Some of you may be familiar with the pubs of south shields site. I hope that eventually there will be a comprehensive guide including restraunts, takeaways, hotels, churches and every amenity South Shields has to offer.

If you know South Shields I think you will agree that it is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. For a small town it has a lot going for it.

The History of the town stretches as far back as the Roman Empire and beyond. The Romans built a fort here, the remains of which can be seen, uncovered and grandly displayed at the Lawe Top.

The sea front has many attractions not seen even at larger towns. There are two hotels and four pubs spaced along the seafront from the Littlehaven Hotel at the Groyne to the Water's Edge at Trow Rocks. In between are the Sea Hotel, the Sundial, the Marsden Rattler and the Sanddancer. The Bowling alley also has a bar and the New Crown is also not a stone's throw from the beach area near the Gypsies Green stadium. What this means is that there is no shortage of eating and drinking places around the sea front. And with the Minchelas kiosk at the amphitheatre you have ice cream aplenty.
